Can you support The Project’s #heartonthehand campaign to help to raise awareness around mental illness, and to promote and raise money for The Project?
As some of you know but many of you don’t… In 2009 I was suffering from severe depression, anxiety, anorexia and was self harming on a daily basis. During the following years I struggled daily to want to even continue my life, and at one point I was admitted to an inpatient psychiatric unit, where I stayed for 6 months.
The point of this post is not about what happened then, more about what’s happening now (the background is just useful). Now 5 years down the line, I am a completely different person, and happier than I have ever been.
The point of this post is to raise awareness around mental illness, and for The Project, which is an amazing charity my Mum has set up to support vulnerable young people suffering such issues as I did.
The heart on the hand is not only The Project’s logo but it is also a symbol to show that many people suffer mental health problems and it’s not always obvious that this is happening. My message: it can get better, it will get better, be aware, be open and be supportive.
And this is what I’d like to ask you to do …
* Make a donation (via JustTextGiving) to The Project at the same time as posting your selfie. To do so, just text HAND09 £5 (or any other amount you wish) to 70070. All donations go to The Project.
* Buy one of our amazing #heartonthehand wristbands, to promote awareness. These are available to buy through our website, by clicking the link below.
Let’s get people talking about mental illness, to make it easier for those who suffer. Thank you for your support.
