The Project is running a 2 day Youth Mental Health First Aid Training Course at Colliton Barton in East Devon on the 9th and 10th April. The 2 day course will help you gain a better understanding of mental health, equip you with the knowledge and skills to help a young person with mental health issues and on completion you will become a fully qualified Youth Mental Health First Aider.
The Project is a mental health charity based in Axminster, Devon. It runs peer support groups for young people aged 13-24 with mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, bereavement, bullying and exam stress. It also provides a monthly support group for parents and carers.
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is an internationally recognised course designed specifically for those people that teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 8 – 18 years. The two day, educational course teaches people how to identify, understand and help a young person who may be developing a mental health problem. In the same way as we learn physical first aid, mental health first aid teaches you how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health.
